Minneapolis grocery store owner charged in $1 million food assistance fraud.
A Minneapolis grocery store owner faces felony charges in what investigators say was a million-dollar food assistance fraud scheme.
Abdid-Wahid Mohamed is accused of using other people’s EBT cards to get more than a million dollars to buy items from wholesale stores that he later sold at his own store.
EBT cards work like debit cards for low-income families who receive government-paid benefits.
Investigators said Mohamed owned Minnesota Food Grocery LLC near West Lake Street in Minneapolis and was seen buying items such as energy drinks and baby formula with EBT cards that did not belong to him.

SCRAMBLE: Minnesota sent $67 million to 9 daycare centers raided by federal agents, records show
5/5/2026
From The Babylon Bee "We Asked AI To Show America Without Republicans"
Minnesota sent $67 million to 9 daycare centers raided by federal agents, records show.
Minnesota paid more than $67 million in public child care subsidies over the past eight years to nine day care providers raided by federal authorities last week as part of a sweeping fraud investigation, according to state data obtained by 5 INVESTIGATES.
The payments flowed through the state’s Child Care Assistance Program, known as CCAP, which helps low-income families cover the cost of child care. The feds have not filed charges, and investigators have not said how much, if any, of the money paid to those providers may have been fraudulently obtained.
Still, the records show dramatic financial growth at the nine centers, while the number of kids they served stayed relatively flat.
Over the last two years alone, state payments to the nine providers more than doubled, rising from about $8 million in 2023 to more than $16 million in 2025, according to the data.

SCRAMBLE: Ilhan Omar husband’s California winery suddenly closes amid investigation into her finances
4/30/2026
A California winery co-owned by Democrat Rep. Ilhan Omar’s husband, Tim Mynett, has shut its doors for good amid scrutiny of the congresswoman’s family wealth.
The winery ceased business operations on April 4, two months after Republicans sent a letter demanding answers into the discrepancies between Omar’s congressional financial disclosures for 2024 and the one she filed just one year earlier, according to California business records.
In a February letter to Mynett, House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer (R-Ky.) said financial disclosures filed by his wife Omar “show eStCru LLC and Rose Lake Capital LLC, which you hold ownership stakes in, went from being worth as much as $51,000 in 2023 to as much as $30 million in 2024.”
The United States has crossed a grim threshold: The national debt now exceeds the size of the entire American economy. As of March 31, debt held by the public stood at $31.27 trillion, while nominal GDP over the prior 12-month period was an estimated $31.22 trillion—pushing the debt-to-GDP ratio to 100.2%, according to a press release issued Thursday by the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget (CRFB), based on new data from the Bureau of Economic Analysis.
