The Danish renewable energy giant Ørsted sold its European onshore business recently and what emerged from that sale process is a business called Perigus Energy. It already has almost 400 MW of wind power capacity here but aims to double that in the next year or two and potentially triple it before the end of the decade. But the same old planning issues hold it back and connecting that renewable energy to the grid is also a headache. Ireland’s second busiest port in Cork has a massive plan in mind to move itself from the quays to Ringaskiddy. It hopes the move will boost its already existing traffic of 1.9million tonnes of freight a year. It also wants to beef up its presence as the only cruise ship berth in Ireland.
